I found one of these at a hamfest, it's a small box with 2 controls on the
front and on the back there are 2 RCA phono sockets, a 12VDC connector and a
SO 239. The 239 is labelled EXT. MODULE so I assume there's another part or
two for this set and I wonder what they are. Any info appreciated.

You have the power supply, RF take off unit.
There is another part, the external active antenna module.

I have the complete setup. The exterior module consists of a whip
antenna, about 5.5-ft. tall, and a small plastic box at the base of
the antenna with assorted electronics in it. There is about 50 feet of
coax coming out of the bottom of the plastic box, which goes to your
control box coax plug labelled, exterior module.

The complete system is an active receiving antenna system that works
between 50 khz and 30 mhz.

The Attenuation control on your box matches the impedance of the
feedline to the radio input.

I don't know if Stoner Communications is still in business, but if
they are, the Exterior Module Assembly, including telescoping antenna
and cable, is listed in the manual as Part # 166044. They give a
California phone number (714) 987-4624.

I bought my antenna system in 1988 for about $200-250. The instruction
manual is dated 1975, so this system's been around awhile.

The antenna has worked like a champ with my SW receiver, a Japan Radio
Company NRD-525.

I compared a friends NIB 100D and was very disapointed.
The Northcountry active antenna is a very good deal.
It costs less then 50$ and represents a excelent bargin.

<http://www.northcountryradio.com/index.htm>

An online set of jpgs from the original PE article can be found at:

<http://www.northcountryradio.com/Published/actant_0896/page1.htm>

I have a diagram for the original 100 but it did not give semiconductor

numbers or feritte core specs.

The base unit you have should work fine with the North Country antenna.

I live less then 5 miles for a day only 1KW MW outlet that causes many
active antennas to give spurious responses. But even at night I had a
lot of IM
and harmonics from MW outlets that are within ~20 miles. The 6 and 9MHz
SW bands were a horrible mix of RF garbage. And when CBer who lives
about
a 1/4 mile away keyed up the 100D went "nuts".

I have the schematic and parts list in my DA100D manual. I can copy it
and snail mail it, if you'd like.

Looking at the parts list, it appears to be mainly capacitors, diodes
and resistors, with a couple of chokes and a bifilar coil.

Have y'all ever heard of (old news to me,I remember reading about them
back in the 1950's in either Bluebook For Men or True or Saga

ice to help keep the ice boats from melting? Hey,let me let my doggy
www.cattledog.com take me out in the front yard for a couple of
minutes and then put her in the front bedroom/junk room so I can go to
the beer store (oooops, food store) and then to the Goodwill store. There
just might be a Mckay Mymek (I like that name) waiting on me over
there.Meet John Rendon, the man who sold the Iraq War. www.rense.com

I bought a radio for three dollars and a speaker (Realistic Solo
speaker,it has a wooden cabinet and a large oval speaker with a smaller
round speaker just to the right of the oval speaker) for two dollars at
the Goodwill store this afternoon. On the front of the radio it says,IC
FET FM/AM 4 Channel Stereo Panaonic. There are four slide levers on the
front of the radio for Left Channel and Right Channel and to the left
are two push buttons for Power and Loudness and there is a jack for
earphones and to the right of the four slide levers are two knobs for
Treble and Bass and over on the right hand side of the radio are two
knobs for Selector and Tuning. On the back of the radio it says Model
No.RE-7750 FM-AM - FM Stereo Serial No.93235 and there are a bunch of
jacks for speakers and Phono and Rec Out and there is a large jack for
Remote Balance and there are two places for FM ANT.The radio is heavy
and appears to have a wooden cabinet.I haven't hooked up any speakers to
the radio to try it out yet.Assuming the radio works ok,is it suppose to
be a good radio for AM dxing?

I am in the same boat as many others here. Because I had one of these antennas, circa 1980, and liked it very much, especially on MW, I picked up the indoor component of the Stoner McKay Dymek DA100 on ebay for $30. But I couldn't find the matching outdoor component anywhere. I do however have some good 1.5 meter outdoor whips. I would imagine that the little box under the original whip antenna on the commercial unit was a simple preamplifier designed primarily to make sure that the incoming signal had enough oomph to make it through the 50' of coax and into the indoor unit, where it could then be attenuated. So now I'm wondering, if I keep the line in fairly short, could I just use one of my whip antennas "naked" and bring its signal straight in to the indoor unit, or would I need to place some kind of signal booster/preamp outside with the antenna? Any ideas? I'm not competent enough to recreate the original outdoor box even if I had the schematic for it, so I'm hoping to find some kind of simple solution. Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!

Since the DA100D supplies DC voltage for an Active Antenna You could probably use a PA0RDT Active Antenna with it. Look here for information on the Antenna. https://owenduffy.net/antenna/PA0RDT-MiniWhip/
