Has anyone repaired a PRO 80? Mine lost AM operation (FM still works).
I tried replacing the 440uf and 220uf caps on the audio board, but no luck.
Has anyone ever seen a schematic for this radio? Anyone have any good
suggestions on how to repair it? I'm guessing one of the 'lytics has gone
bad, but havn't found it.
I have a lot of sentimental attachment to this radio, and I'd like to get
it working again. Any help out there? How about Sony repair centers?

Hi, got a icf pro 80 with very very low volume at max volume. Replaced the SMD caps with usual caps with same uF but bigger V and now the audio is fine now on FM and SW / LW / SWL but only in narrow mode.
What can i do to restore the sound on all modes?
I must say that i didn't replace the caps from inside the DC / DC converter.

I have same problem as you. Have you repaired it?
I know is a old group but what can i do :(

I have re-cap'ed my Sony ICF-Pro80, I have 5 of them, 3 of the 5 work great, 2 no AM ( Narrow or Wide ) or SSB, but both FM wide and narrow are fine. The way Sony lay'ed out the AM does not make any sense! One of the died am units had a bad feed through, on the PLL, fixed that, making FM working but not the AM! I can see the AGC is working. I know I am missing something! Any ideas?
